Managing Funding and Furniture During Relocation #
When a Refugee Household relocates, Community Supporter Groups should manage remaining funds appropriately and understand what happens to donated furniture.

- Independently raised funds can be managed according to the group’s own governance arrangements.
- Unspent funds raised using CRSA’s DGR status must be managed in line with CRSA requirements.
- Furniture gifted to the Household belongs to the Household.
- Households may take gifted furniture when relocating but are responsible for relocation costs.
Managing remaining funds #
Groups that have raised funds independently may manage those funds according to their own governance arrangements and any commitments made to donors.
Where funds have been raised using CRSA’s DGR status and remain unspent when the Household relocates, those funds should be:
- Used to support the Refugee Household where appropriate.
- Allocated to another Refugee Household matched with the Community Supporter Group.
- Transferred to CRSA so they can be allocated to support another Refugee Household.
Furniture and household belongings #
Furniture and household items provided to the Refugee Household are considered gifts and become the property of the Household.
If the Household chooses to relocate, they may take their furniture with them. Any costs associated with moving those items are the responsibility of the Household.

Supporting newcomers to settle where they choose is central to successful settlement. Respecting a Household’s decisions about where to live reflects the principles of self-determination, autonomy and enabling newcomers to take the lead in their own settlement journey.
