At a glance #

  • It can be used whether or not someone is enrolled in AMEP.
  • It is particularly valuable for people living in regional areas or those unable to attend face-to-face classes.

Learning English online #

AMEPOnline is a free English language learning platform that refugee newcomers can access on a mobile phone or computer at any time.

AMEPOnline:
https://ameponline.homeaffairs.gov.au/

The platform includes interactive lessons, videos and audio activities across five English proficiency levels, including beginner courses.

Because it is available online, AMEPOnline can support newcomers regardless of whether they are enrolled in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP).

Who can benefit? #

AMEPOnline is useful for all refugee newcomers, but it may be especially valuable for people who:

  • Live in regional or remote areas without a local AMEP provider.
  • Have caring responsibilities that make classroom attendance difficult.
  • Have health concerns or disability that limit travel.
  • Want additional opportunities to practise English outside formal classes.

Education summary checklist #
