Every newcomer arrives with different experiences, skills and levels of work readiness. While some people may be ready to begin working soon after arrival, others may need time to improve their English, understand Australian workplaces or develop additional skills.
Encouraging someone into employment before they feel ready may affect their confidence and long-term participation in the workforce.
