Mapping local services #
CSGs are encouraged to identify important local services that support each area of settlement before the Refugee Household arrives. Preparing this information in advance makes it easier to provide practical guidance during the early weeks of settlement.
Consider services that relate to health, education, employment, transport, community participation and other everyday needs.
Building independence #
As part of the Household’s initial orientation, introduce each key local service and explain its purpose. Providing a simple overview of where services are located, what they do and how they can be accessed helps newcomers become familiar with their local community.
Early knowledge of local services builds confidence and supports the Refugee Household to access assistance independently over time, rather than relying on the CSG.
