“We were inspired by Canada‘s long standing refugee sponsorship program and thought something like that could work really well in Australia as a way of expanding and improving refugee settlement here,” says Button.
As at June 2023, the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP) has facilitated the arrival of over 200 individuals who have been welcomed by local volunteer groups across the country.
