100 Groups, 100 Days

Australia is the land of the fair go, mateship and natural beauty, but it can be a challenging place to navigate as a newly arrived refugee. Community sponsorship changes this experience by empowering locals to welcome refugee newcomers, recognising their capacity to enrich Australia with the right support.

The CRSA team is currently getting to know a new wave of UNHCR-referred refugees – families and individuals currently overseas that are waiting to be matched with local groups of Australians. We also need to keep building momentum to ensure that the CRISP pilot program becomes a permanent feature of Australia’s refugee response. Against this backdrop, CRSA has launched a new campaign and set a bold goal for our team and the Australian community: 100 Groups, 100 Days. That’s right. We’re aiming to mobilise 100 new Community Supporter Groups (CSGs) in the 100 days leading up to World Refugee Day on 20 June.

So, how can you help achieve this goal?

  • Register to attend one of our upcoming information sessions to learn more about joining a group and supporting a refugee household.
  • Find other people in your community who want to form a group with you. Check out our ‘Find a group’ Facebook page if you need help with this.
  • If you have formed a group and are ready to get involved, submit an intention to apply and start preparing to welcome.
  • Follow us on LinkedInInstagramFacebook and Twitter (X) to stay up to date with our ‘100 Reasons For Community Sponsorship’ part of the campaign. We encourage you to share these posts across your own social channels to help us reach as many people as possible.

This is your moment to make a difference to the global refugee crisis through meaningful and rewarding local action. We look forward to supporting you through your community sponsorship journey.
