2022-23 was an incredibly important and momentous year for CRSA – a year in which we were able to clearly demonstrate the power and viability of the community sponsorship model in Australia. Having designed and launched the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP) towards the end of the previous year, August 2022 saw the first refugee participants arriving in Australia through the program.
By the end of June 2023, 46 refugee households (191 individuals) had arrived in Australia, and into all states and territories apart from the Northern Territory. Early evaluation data, drawn from the government-funded independent evaluation led by the University of Queensland and from CRSA’s own monitoring activities indicates strong settlement outcomes, and a high level of satisfaction from refugee participants and Community Supporter Groups (CSGs) alike.
