The group, calling themselves Birrarung Strawberry, helped ease Ayat’s heavy load, leading to new connections and a hospitality job. “I am feeling proud of myself for what has been achieved so far,” said Ayat, “I feel like before I came here, I spent a lot of time in bed and now I am reborn and learning so much. It is hard sometimes, but I have come far, and I wouldn’t change anything now I am here.”
