dRegister your interest on behalf of a community organisation or business

If you represent a community organisation that is keen to get involved in sponsoring or mentoring refugee newcomers, please register your interest here. We will contact you to let you know about opportunities to be involved in our next Group Mentorship Program (GMP) and any future community sponsorship programs. More information about the role of community organisations or businesses in our Group Mentorship Program is available on the GMP page.

Clubs, faith groups, schools and other community organisations can all play a role. Businesses can be involved by providing training or employment opportunities to refugee newcomers and providing goods and services to support refugee newcomers on arrival or along their settlement journey. You could also engage in our programs to provide opportunities for your staff to volunteer their time in a satisfying and meaningful way. Please register your interest and we’ll let you know about opportunities as they arise.

The form will also give you the option of signing our ‘civil society pledge’ which shows policymakers the large and growing number of organisations who are keen to see Australia establish an affordable and accessible community sponsorship program for refugees. Community organisations and businesses all over Australia have already endorsed this pledge (see list below) – add your organisation’s name.

A pledge from the Australian community to support refugee sponsorship

On the occasion of the inaugural Global Refugee Forum in December 2019, CRSA together with Settlement Services International launched a ‘civil society pledge’ to demonstrate to government the widespread support for the introduction of a well-designed community sponsorship program. Organisations who endorsed the pledged welcomed the Australian government’s commitment to undertake a much-needed review of this policy area and pledge to actively support the development of a community refugee sponsorship program in Australia which is:

  1. Co-designed with community groups and refugees
  2. Affordable to sponsors
  3. Accessible to refugees in most urgent need of resettlement
  4. Engages a broad cross-section of the Australian community
  5. Provides a way of expanding Australia’s resettlement program

In the two years between the Global Refugee Forum and the announcement by the Australian government in December 2021 of the new Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP), approximately 200 Australian organisations endorsed the pledge (see list below).  Many of these organisations are now actively involved in the CRISP.
