Belong from Day Dot: Events in Hobart for Harmony Week

by | Posted to: Events | Tags: , , Date: March 19, 2025 Start time: 5:30 pm Location: Hobart, TAS

We are thrilled to announce that Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA) will be celebrating Harmony Week in Hobart from 19 – 23 March 2025!

In honour of Harmony Week, we will be hosting a number of local events to raise awareness of community refugee sponsorship and the sense of belonging and connection found when we welcome newcomers to our communities.

We also want to celebrate the dedication and compassion of so many Tasmanians who have already made a lasting impact on the lives of refugee newcomers under the CRISP – like the Nundu family welcomed to Tasmania by the Huon Refugee Support Group.

If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a difference in the lives of refugee newcomers, or are just curious to learn more, then please join us at one of these events!

What is the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP) program?

The Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot – or CRISP – is a new sponsorship program delivered by Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA) in partnership with the Department of Home Affairs.

Through the CRISP program, everyday Australians and communities can volunteer to provide practical support and make a real difference helping refugee families relocate and settle in Australia. These refugee newcomers do not have existing family links in Australia and are identified by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as in urgent need of resettlement.

What will you get out of this information session?

  • A stronger understanding of how the CRISP program works and its vital role in refugee settlement
  • Examples of how other everyday Australians are making a difference in their local communities
  • A step-by-step guide on how you can get involved with the program
  • Your sponsorship questions answered by our dedicated and friendly team

For questions or if you would like CRSA to deliver an information session for your network please get in touch! Email community@refugeesposorshiporg.au.

We look forward to seeing you there!
