A Warrnambool Welcome

The CRISP support group, one of a growing number active in the region, welcomed refugee newcomers Rita, Salah and their three children. Soon after arriving, Salah secured a job at a local pizza shop, and Rita began working as a cleaner. It was a step toward their dream careers: Salah aspires to joining the police force, while Rita hopes to work in the disability or aged-care sector. The personal connection between the support group and the family was what made the experience so enriching for all involved. And it’s what’s motivated the Warrnambool locals to now welcome a second household into their community.
